As Japan’s newly elected prime minister, Shigeru Ishiba, composes his cabinet, one position remains conspicuously vacant: Minister for Economic Cooperation with Russia. Moscow has noticed, with Russia Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova saying plainly, “If Japan closes ties, we will look for other partners.” Ishiba’s move signals a continued, and potentially more assertive, departure from the brief period of improvement of relations that Tokyo and Moscow enjoyed under Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the late 2010s. This has since been interrupted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The fact that Ishiba has been sanctioned by Moscow since 2022 does not help matters.
Created in 2016 under Abe, the Minister for Economic Cooperation with Russia has traditionally been held by Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry. It was occupied through Prime Minister Kishida’s tenure, despite calls from lawmakers in both Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and opposition parties to abolish the title. Although largely symbolic, the position’s inception rests in the broader eight-point plan of economic cooperation presented by Abe to Vladimir Putin during the 2016 Russia-Japan Summit in Sochi. The plan was a notable step toward improving relations that had been inflamed following Russia’s invasion of Crimea and eastern Ukraine. This triggered a slew of retaliatory measures by Japan, including the freezing of agreements on investment, visas, and security.
Beyond moving to improve economic relations, the summit eased tensions surrounding Japan’s Northern Territories, the contested Kuril Islands claimed by Japan but administered by Russia since the Soviet occupation during World War II. The Russian program allowing visa-free access to the islands by its former Japanese residents was expanded, and more Japanese citizens were allowed access to visit the graves of their family members, a point of domestic political contention in Tokyo that Ishiba highlighted during his campaign.
The progress on the issue of the Northern Territories supported efforts for the establishment of a peace treaty between Moscow and Tokyo, which would formally end post-World War II hostilities and settle the issue of the sovereignty of the islands. Although no treaty was signed as a result of Abe’s efforts, Russia-Japan trade and visits to the Northern Territories continued mostly unimpeded until Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, despite several minor diplomatic rows.
Under Prime Minister Kishida, Japan joined the West’s sanctions regime against Russia, triggering a major diplomatic fallout between Moscow and Tokyo. Within a month of the invasion, Russia suspended all talks relating to a peace treaty with Japan. It halted visa-free access for former Japanese residents of the Northern Territories, alongside disruptions to trade due to sanctions and Japan’s downgrading of Russia’s ‘most favored nation’ status.
Although not wholly indicative of Russia’s diplomatic posture, former Russian president turned deputy chairman of Russia’s National Security Council Dmitry Medvedev proclaimed that the issue of the Northern Territories was “closed once and for all” and that those upset in Japan should “end their life in the traditional Japanese way, by committing seppuku.”
The growing division in Russia-Japan relations was accompanied by stronger bilateral relations between the United States and Japan, as the two countries pledged several new points of cooperation during Kishida’s state visit in April. Notably, both countries enhanced their defense partnership by agreeing to upgrade and modernize their Command and Control systems, including the long-awaited establishment of the Japan Self-Defense Forces Joint Operations Command. This new command structure aims to unify and oversee all SDF joint operations, complementing the restructured Joint Force Headquarters with US Forces Japan. The two countries also recently established the Defense Industrial Cooperation, Acquisition, and Sustainment Forum, which enables U.S. and Japanese officials and business leaders to discuss areas for closer industrial cooperation.
In addition to stronger bilateral defense ties, Japan has also increased its multilateral engagement with NATO. Since the 2022 NATO summit in Madrid, Kishida has participated in every successive NATO summit to identify areas of mutual security interests. Most recently, following the 2024 NATO Summit in Washington, DC, NATO and Japan agreed to enhance cooperation in cyber defense, emerging technologies, maritime security, and resilience under the Individually Tailored Partnership Programme.
Ishiba took an aggressive posture toward Moscow during his campaign to become the leader of the LDP in September. He articulated his foreign policy vision in comments to the Hudson Institute, recognizing a growing partnership between Pyongyang and Moscow and emphasizing the need for new methods of deterrence against Russia, China, and North Korea. Additionally, in response to several incursions by Russian aircraft last week, Ishiba proposed amending Japanese law to allow Japan’s Self-Defense Forces to fire on aircraft violating Japanese airspace.
During his security-heavy inaugural policy speech to the Japanese Diet this week, Ishiba referenced Russia’s airspace violation, calling it a “serious violation” of Japanese sovereignty. He also committed to continuing Japan’s sanctions regime against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, echoing earlier statements made by his newly appointed foreign minister.
While recognizing that Japan-Russia relations are tense, Ishiba pledged to continue aiming for a Russia-Japan peace treaty and to resolve the issue of the sovereignty of the Northern Territories. However, as Zakharova’s comments highlight, continued negotiations are unlikely to occur as long as Japan maintains sanctions.
With all indicators pointing to, at minimum, a continuation of the tense diplomatic status quo between Russia and Japan, Ishiba is unlikely to reverse the Kishida administration’s course as long as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues. His aspirations for a stronger Japanese defense, including the implication of greater deterrence against Russia, indicate further agitation in Moscow as Japanese cooperation with the United States and NATO continues to grow.
Just days into his administration, Ishiba has already drawn the ire of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs—and it likely will not be the last time.

Hi friend! I’m wondering about the process you took to be able to stay in New Zealand because it’s been a dream of mine to move there but it seems really daunting 😭 thank you in advance!
Kia ora e hoa!
Oof, my story is a long and complicated one for sure. Moving countries (no matter where you're heading) is a HUGE choice and no matter how much you prepare, there will always be a learning curve. For me, however, I didn't prepare at all. Not really. That being said, NZ does have A LOT of hoops to jump through and they're REALLY particular about who gets visas (even more so since the pandemic).
But here's my story:
2015: I had visited NZ for a handful of days in 2015 and then shortly after that trip, I happened to meet someone through tumblr who was a kiwi. We started a long-distance relationship from there.
Now, I need to note that I was homeless at that point of my life. I was living in my car, so everything I owned fit inside a compact Chevy Aveo. And when my car got repossessed and I said 'nothing left for me in [readacted]' and packed up those few belongings into two plastic tubs, bought a one way ticket, and flew to Aotearoa (The actual time between losing my car, to considering moving, to pouring all of my savings into airfare, to actually just up and leaving to start a new life across the world, was only about 2 weeks btw. Like I said, ZERO preperation.)
Early 2016: I first came on a 3-month visitor visa. Then I was able to get a partnership visa for a year. When that relationship ended, I had already decided Aotearoa was my forever home and I was ready to do anything necessary to stay here long-term.
2017: I managed another 1-year visa (working holiday visa).
Early 2018: Then by the time that one was ending, I was in a new relationship (with my current partner) but we hadn't been together long enough for them to sponsor me in a partnership visa.
Without any way to get another working visa, I was forced to plan a move to Australia for a year. I had sorted a working holiday visa there, had job prospects, and although I didn't want to leave NZ, I knew it was only a temporary stop over, because I would spend every moment in Aus trying to get back into NZ somehow.
Final days of my visa, 2018: I had already been thrown goodbye parties, I sold what little belongings I'd started to acquire in my two years here, I had my airfare and visa all ready for Aus -- but I was STILL desperately scouring the Immigration NZ website for ANY legal loopholes, any way I could just stay a while longer. And in doing so, I found exactly that. In absolute secret (didn't tell a single soul from fear of getting my hopes up) -- I applied for a nine-month visitor visa.
And to my utter shock -- it worked. I was able to stay.
2018/19: In those 9 months, I ended up moving in with Doom Them and by the time I was nearing the end of my visitor visa, we were able to apply for a partnership visa together. I was granted another one-year visa.
2019: We had to repeat the process. Submitting over 500 pages of documentation that our relationship was genuine, and even then, they still asked for more. Luckily, they eventually granted me another one year visa.
Early 2020: After living in NZ continuously for four years, you are eligible to apply for residency. Because I had a NZ partner, that definitely helped, because at the start of Covid INZ stopped accepting any other type of residency visa applications. I was SO lucky that we applied WAY early this time, because estimated wait times for visa processing were like 10-16 MONTHS
August 2020: I officially became a NZ Resident!!! Which meant I no longer had to apply for Visas. I was granted the privilege of living in NZ for the rest of my life without ever having to apply for visas that may not be granted. The annual stress and uncertainty we faced each time we applied was no more!
August 2022: After being a NZ Resident for 2 years, you can then apply to be a NZ Permanent Resident. That means you can leave and come back to NZ without any issues. It's basically citizenship without the passport.
So that's where I'm at currently! And in August 2025 (5 years after residency is first granted) -- I will finally get to become a NZ CITIZEN!!!! I cannot wait for the day this country becomes my place of citizenship.
It is a LONG and tedious process that requires a TON of work and stress and money (god so much fucking moneeeeyyyyyy) -- but I wouldn't change it for the world.
Because even though I first moved here for a relationship that didn't work out -- I still wound up finding my forever home, my friends, my family, and most importantly, I did find my forever relationship.

In an aggressive and desperate act of retaliation, Google has fired 50 workers, including non-participating bystanders, as a response to April 16th's historic, coast-to-coast sit-ins that took place inside Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian's office in Sunnyvale, CA, as well as the 10th floor commons of Google NYC. Through this historic, worker action — and the first of its kind in tech — tech workers with the No Tech For Apartheid campaign demanded that Google cut its $1.2B contract with Israel, known as Project Nimbus.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian are genocide profiteers. Through Project Nimbus, Google is actively aiding & abetting Israel’s genocide in Gaza, which has so far killed, disappeared, and wounded over 100,000 Palestinians, according to the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor. Just two weeks ago, TIME Magazine confirmed that Google has been lying to its own workers, consumers & the press for years, and is providing direct cloud/AI services to the Israeli Occupation Forces. What’s more, the corporation has actively deepened its partnership with Israeli military during the genocide in Gaza, signing a new $1M agreement as recently as one month ago.
These courageous workers put their bodies & jobs on the line inside their own workplaces, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to Palestinian liberation. For three years, through the No Tech For Apartheid campaign, thousands of workers at Google and Amazon have called on their employers to cut the billion-dollar Project Nimbus contract. It's simple: Workers at Google and Amazon don't want their labor to power Israeli apartheid or the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
Google’s indiscriminate mass firings are a clear attempt to quash dissent, silence its workers, and reassert its power over them. Google is terrified of worker organizing for Palestine and embarrassed by last week’s show of worker power. In an attempt to assert control, Google decided to unceremoniously, and without due process, upend the livelihoods of over 50 workers, including many who did not actively participate in last Tuesday’s sit-ins. Google even called the police on its own workers at both sit-in locations, leading to the arrests of the Nimbus Nine, who were charged with trespassing at their own offices.
Unjustly fired Google workers include Palestinians who financially support families back home, workers with urgent healthcare needs, as well as those who relied on work visas to reside and work in the U.S. Irrespective of these extenuating circumstances, Google lashed out at any worker that was physically in the vicinity of the protest or who they identified through a dragnet of in-office surveillance.
Tech workers and workers everywhere will not allow their labor rights to be trampled on, nor their voices silenced. Workers need their voices heard, to be able to speak out in support of fellow workers who experience harassment and discrimination at work and who are personally and directly impacted by their bosses’ decisions about how their labor is used—in this case Palestinian Googlers being forced to watch their company’s tech being used to massacre their own people.
Join us to demand Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, and Google's Chief of HR Fiona Ciccone reinstate the 50 fired workers & stop the retaliation against workers speaking out on Palestine. Workers' sit-in demands included that the company stop allowing the harassment and discrimination of Palestinians, Muslim and Arab Googlers, and address the workplace health and safety crisis that Project Nimbus has created for Google workers who do not want their labor to power a genocide.

Business setup in Dubai
Business setup in Dubai refers to the process of establishing a business entity within the city of Dubai, which is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dubai is a thriving business hub known for its strategic location, robust infrastructure, and business-friendly environment. Here is a detailed explanation of business setup in Dubai:
Mainland Business Setup: Mainland business setup allows businesses to operate within the local market of Dubai and the UAE. It requires partnering with a local Emirati sponsor or a local service agent, depending on the nature of the business activity. The sponsor holds a minority share (typically 51%) in the company, while the majority share can be owned by foreign investors.
Free Zone Business Setup: Free zones in Dubai are designated areas that offer attractive incentives and benefits to businesses. These include 100% foreign ownership, tax exemptions, full repatriation of profits, and simplified procedures. Each free zone in Dubai caters to specific industries or sectors, such as Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) for commodities trading, Dubai Internet City (DIC) for technology companies, and Dubai Media City (DMC) for media and advertising companies.
Offshore Business Setup: Dubai also offers offshore company formation through jurisdictions such as JAFZA Offshore and RAK Offshore. Offshore companies are not allowed to operate within the UAE market but are ideal for international business activities, asset holding, or as a vehicle for investment and wealth management. They provide privacy, tax advantages, and ease of administration.
Legal Structures: Dubai offers various legal structures for business setup, including Limited Liability Company (LLC), Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Branch of a Foreign Company, and more. The choice of legal structure depends on factors such as ownership requirements, liability considerations, and business objectives.
Licensing and Permits: Business setup in Dubai requires obtaining the necessary licenses and permits from the relevant authorities. This includes trade licenses, professional licenses, industrial licenses, and specialized permits based on the nature of the business activity. The requirements vary depending on the type of business and the jurisdiction in which it is established.
Office Space and Infrastructure: Businesses in Dubai need to secure suitable office space or facilities to operate. This can be done through leasing commercial spaces, utilizing shared office spaces, or renting virtual offices. Dubai offers state-of-the-art infrastructure, modern office buildings, and world-class amenities to support business operations.
Visa and Immigration Services: Business setup in Dubai includes visa and immigration services for company owners, employees, and their dependents. This involves obtaining residence permits, work permits, investor visas, and other necessary documents from the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
Compliance and Regulations: Businesses in Dubai must comply with local regulations, including financial reporting, tax obligations, labor laws, and industry-specific regulations. Compliance requirements vary based on the legal structure and the nature of the business activity. It is important to stay updated with the regulations and engage professional advisors to ensure ongoing compliance.
Dubai offers numerous advantages for businesses, including a strategic location that serves as a gateway to the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, a robust infrastructure, a diverse and multicultural workforce, political stability, and a supportive business ecosystem. However, navigating the business setup process in Dubai can be complex, and it is advisable to seek the assistance of experienced business setup consultants who can guide you through the legal requirements, procedures, and best practices to ensure a successful and compliant business establishment.

Is it really THAT complicated that it’s impossible for someone like her though? /// There’s a partner visa she could apply for/he could sponsor if they get engaged, if she’s his proposed civil partner, or if they had been living together for at least 2 years. They must intend to live together permanently and if she comes over as his fiancée or proposed civil partner they have to get married or register a civil partnership after 6 months. So if the “anon” who is always going on about Alex and Louise getting married etc was right then it would be really easy for him to sponsor a partner visa so she could move to London. I’m sure there are also a number of loopholes an expensive immigration attorney could find for them. And it would also be really easy for Alex to move to France as a self-employed artist under an artistic and cultural profession talent passport.
If Alex had any interest in actually being in a real, committed, meaningful relationship with Louise they would be living together and the visa issue really isn’t much of a barrier at all. I can only assume the anon(s) insisting them not living together after 4+ years doesn’t mean anything are either barely teenagers, have no relationship experience whatsoever, are delusional, or have some personal investment in convincing themselves that that is true (ie louise). I’m sorry but if you’re in your 30s and not even living in the same country, let alone in the same residence, with your “partner” after 4+ years - unless it’s a short-term arrangement with and end date while you figure out visa stuff or financial stuff or finish school or a work commitment etc, none of which exist here - then you aren’t emotionally available and you are not in a serious, committed relationship with the other person. The idea that this is a fulfilling, serious and committed relationship is laughable and sad. Being in an indefinitely long-distance relationship for years in your 30s just is not something an emotionally available person does with someone they love and are committed to building a future with absent any actual barrier which again does not exist here.
We wholeheartedly agree.

ITR Filing: A Comprehensive Guide to Filing Your Income Tax Return
Introduction:
Filing your Income Tax Return (ITR) is a crucial obligation for all taxpayers. This process not only ensures adherence to tax regulations but also provides financial advantages such as potential tax refunds and serves as documentation of income for various financial transactions. In this article, we will delve into the essential aspects of ITR filing, including its significance, different types, the filing process, and common pitfalls to avoid.
What is ITR Filing?
ITR Filing refers to the submission of income tax returns to the Income Tax Department. This process encompasses information regarding your income, deductions, exemptions, and tax obligations for a specific financial year. It is required for individuals, businesses, and other entities to file their ITR in accordance with their income levels and applicable tax laws.
Why is ITR Filing Important?
Legal Compliance: Under the Income Tax Act, it is obligatory for eligible taxpayers to submit their ITR by the specified deadline.
Avoid Penalties: Failing to file on time can lead to penalties and interest charges on outstanding tax amounts.
Claim Tax Refunds: If you have had excess tax deducted from your earnings, filing your ITR allows you to request a refund.
Proof of Income: The ITR serves as valid proof of income when applying for loans, visas, and government assistance.
Carry Forward Losses: Timely ITR filing enables you to carry forward any business or capital losses to offset against future earnings.
Avoid Notices and Scrutiny: Not filing or incorrectly filing your ITR may result in inquiries from the tax authorities.
Who is Required to File an Income Tax Return (ITR)?
Individuals whose earnings exceed the basic exemption threshold
Businesses and self-employed professionals
Corporations, partnerships, and firms
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) with taxable income generated in India
Individuals possessing foreign assets or income
Taxpayers seeking refunds
Investors in foreign stocks or mutual funds
Categories of ITR Forms
The Income Tax Department has established various ITR forms tailored to different categories of taxpayers and types of income:
ITR-1 (Sahaj): Designed for salaried individuals with income not exceeding ₹50 lakh
ITR-2: Applicable to individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) without business or professional income
ITR-3: Intended for individuals and HUFs with income derived from business or profession
ITR-4 (Sugam): For individuals, HUFs, and firms choosing presumptive taxation
ITR-5: For Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs), Associations of Persons (AOPs), and Bodies of Individuals (BOIs)
ITR-6: For companies, excluding those claiming tax exemption under Section 11
ITR-7: For trusts, political organizations, and charitable entities.
Step-by-Step Guide for Submitting Income Tax Returns (ITR)
Collect Necessary Documents: Ensure you have your PAN, Aadhaar, Form 16, Form 26AS, bank statements, proof of investments, and salary slips ready.
Select the Appropriate ITR Form: Determine the correct form based on the nature of your income.
Access the Income Tax Portal: Navigate to the e-filing portal and log in with your credentials.
Identify the Assessment Year: Select the financial year relevant to your tax return submission.
Complete the Information: Input your income, deductions, and details of tax payments.
Review and Submit: Verify the accuracy of the information, validate it, and proceed to submit the return.
E-Verify Your ITR: Complete the verification process using Aadhaar OTP, net banking, or a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).
Common Errors to Avoid When Filing ITR
Selecting an incorrect ITR form
Inputting inaccurate personal information
Failing to report all income sources
Claiming erroneous deductions
Missing the filing deadline
Neglecting to e-verify the return.
Due Date for ITR Submission
The deadline for submitting the Income Tax Return (ITR) is determined by the category of the taxpayer:
Individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs): July 31st (unless an extension is granted by the government)
Businesses subject to audit: September 30th
Companies: October 31st
Consequences of Missing the Deadline
Failure to submit your ITR by the due date may result in:
A penalty of up to ₹5,000 as stipulated under Section 234F.
Inability to carry forward any losses.
Accrual of interest on any outstanding tax.
Potential legal repercussions for intentional non-compliance.
Conclusion
Timely submission of your ITR is essential for maintaining financial discipline and adhering to legal requirements. The availability of online e-filing options has simplified the process significantly. Whether you choose to file independently or enlist professional help, ensuring that your ITR is accurate and submitted on time will alleviate stress and optimize your tax advantages.
Filing your Income Tax Return (ITR) is a crucial financial responsibility that ensures compliance with tax laws and helps you claim deductions, refunds, and other benefits. With the assistance of GTS Consultant India , the process becomes more streamlined, accurate, and hassle-free. Their expert guidance ensures that your tax filing is done efficiently, minimizing errors and maximizing potential savings.

Legacy of Terror and Power
Mohsen Fallahian, son of Iran’s former Minister of Intelligence, #Ali Fallahian, is one of the most dangerous
figures in the world of international crime. Here’s a glimpse into his dark empire: Legacy of Terror and Power Born into a notorious family, Mohsen inherited the resources and connections of his father, Ali Fallahian, infamous for orchestrating the #1994 AMIA bombing in Argentina. His upbringing shaped him into a calculated criminal, blending influence, power, and ruthlessness. Crimes without Borders Engaged in #murder, #money laundering, and #visa fraud, #Mohsen Fallahian is a high-profile target for international law enforcement. Known for a violent streak, he even shot and killed an Iranian security officer to evade capture. Forged Identities for Global Mobility Mohsen Fallahian uses #forged Turkish passports and false identities to slip through borders undetected. He has secured illegal residencies in Turkey and Italy, creating safe havens for his operations. Partnerships in Crime A key ally of #Abbas Sharif AlAskari, Mohsen Fallahian is deeply involved in #oil smuggling and #money laundering networks that destabilize regions.
Abbas Sharif AlAskari and #Mohsen Fallahian are central figures in a high-stakes #oil smuggling operation that
fuels global criminal networks. Using Iranian crude from #Bandar Abbas, they employ Panamanian-registered vessels to transport the oil to Iraq, where #falsified documents disguise its origin. The "Iraqi" oil is then sold on international markets, generating millions in illicit profits.
Mohsen Fallahian’s Israel network’s connections extend to global financial and political crimes, making him a
linchpin in transnational criminal activities. His brazen actions and strategic alliances make him a significant threat to global security. His shadowy empire is a chilling reminder of how #criminal networks #manipulate power and evade justice.
